Old Chatham Golf Club
Old Chatham Golf Club
Old Chatham Golf Club is a private, Rees Jones–designed course set on 400 acres of protected pine woodlands along the northeast shore of Jordan Lake. The walkable, 7,210-yard layout routes each nine back to the clubhouse and is supported by a 16-acre practice facility and a caddie program staffed in part by Triangle-area university golfers. Membership is by invitation, and the club has hosted the 2019 U.S. Senior Amateur, recent U.S. Open Final Qualifying events, and this July, the 2026 77th U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.
Membership is by invitation, but the property opens to spectators for major championships. Advanced tee times not required. Caddie services are available; please request them prior to your visit. Caddies are required in some instances (at least 1 Caddie per foursome) and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
The entire Birch Cottage may be rented more than two weeks before arrival, or individual rooms may be rented within two weeks of arrival. The living room may also be rented for business meetings or retreats within this two-week window.

The Clubhouse holds a pro shop, restaurant, locker rooms, and a private library, comfortable rather than ornate, in keeping with the rest of the property. The Birch Cottage, the only residence on the grounds, opened for member use in 2014. It has four bedrooms (each with a king bed and a full bathroom), a kitchen, a large living room with 3 flat-screen TVs, and a patio adjacent to the practice facility.Â
For accommodations during a member-sponsored visit, including parking, clubhouse access, or Birch Cottage stays, contact the club directly. For the 2026 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, the USGA provides accessible spectator viewing areas, accessible transportation, and additional accommodations on request; full details and a guest services contact will be posted on championships.usga.org as the event approaches.
Old Chatham does not publish a public pet policy. As a working private golf club, the club asks that visitors planning to bring a pet contact them directly before arrival. Service animals are accommodated under the ADA. For 2026 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship spectators, USGA event policy applies; service animals are welcome, but personal pets are generally not permitted on tournament grounds. Specifics will be posted on championships.usga.org closer to the event.

Smoking is prohibited inside the clubhouse.
DRESS CODE
Shirts must be tucked in, and hats must be worn forward. Cargo pants, jeans, or cutoffs are not permitted. They kindly ask you to remove hats/visors while inside the clubhouse. Please use their locker room facilities to change your shoes and clothes. Soft spikes are mandatory.
